In my hometown, there are two nightspots, Dellars and Shout "for the big night out". a few months ago i was reluctantly queuing to get into the latter. standing behind me in the queue where a couple of burly lads donning their rugby colours. the atmosphere was tense (in my head anyway), a few people's beery instincts had cottoned on to the fact that i was out of comfort zone and noticed the glasses. The heckling began, and shouts of "Gok Wan" echoed up and down the line. One of the Rugger boys behind me and my friends (obviously the brains of the operation) came up with COCK WANG, and after that things turned a little more sinister. I overhead a couple of lads trying suggesting to their friend that he "smack me one" he said no, and explained he had been put in prison last time he did that, I'm not sure if he was telling the truth, but he didnt sound like it would've taken much persuasion for him to have punch me, and needless to say i didn't stick around to eavesdrop further.
On a less insulting note, a few of my friends used to constantly tell me i look Dev Hynes. I personally cannot see the resemblance. Early lastyear at Lightspeed Champion gig, my friend approached him in the bar and told him he we look so alike.
Doesnt he look thrilled to have been told how similar we look. "Whitespeed Champion" joked my friends girlfriend's friend. Aah, embarrassing times...
